Yellow Pages Series Published by Incentive Publications Each subject - 63 pages, paperback; for grades 3-12 The Yellow Pages series is a great time-saving resource. It’s like having the library reference section at your finger tips. It gives teachers and students comprehensive resources for teaching and learning essential skills in the core subjects. Each title is a collection of rules, checklists, study tips, and information capsules that make it easy for students and teachers to check their work. These types of resources are vital for global students who have a hard time remembering the rules, formulas, and facts and figures. When I was teaching my daughter who is very global, I had her put together her own “rules books” for each subject. That was before I knew these resources were available. As a homeschooling parent, I found I had forgotten a lot of the formulas and details over the years. I would go to look something up and waste a lot of time leafing through pages of textbooks hunting for the information. I knew I had seen the information, but couldn’t remember which year’s textbook had it in it. I purchased the whole set of yellow pages for the price of one textbook. Now all I have to do is consult the right yellow page. The Science Yellow Pages includes: basic skills in the main fields of science, scientific method, branches of science, laboratory procedures, microscope parts and investigations, formulas, tables of measure, science fair checklist, and major facts, concepts, and formulas in physical science, earth and space science, and life science. Charts of the human body systems and animal classifications are also included. The Math Yellow Pages contains a checklist of math skills covering grades K-8. It also includes math symbols, properties, metric system, formulas, problem-solving guide, mathematical tricks, computer vocabulary, and math terms. It has ready-to-copy charts for learning math facts in the back. The U.S. Social Studies Yellow Pages includes history skills, government & citizenship skills, geography & map skills, explorers, 13 colonies, important documents, branches of government, history of the flag, symbols and traditions, timeline, famous Americans, presidents, states, and time zones -- just to name a few! The World Social Studies Yellow Pages includes world history and geography skills checklists, summaries of historical periods, explorers, historic places, Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, biographical dictionary, and geography checklists. The Writing Yellow Pages covers such items as things to write, descriptive words, words that show action, rhyming words, literary devices, rules for punctuation, proofreader's marks, spelling helps, capitalization rules, and editor guides. The Reading Yellow Pages covers word recognition, word usage, comprehension and reading study skills, phonetic analysis, word structures (roots, prefixes, suffixes), contractions, rhymes, word meaning aids, analogies, literature analysis, and a reading performance assessment guide.
