Sample Course Description — Structured Course.
Course: Biblical Doctrine Credit: 1.0 Grade: 12th
Description:
This is a one-year high school course in Biblical doctrine. The primary text is a laymen’s version of Berkhof’s Systematic Theology. Key concepts of evangelical Christian doctrine are briefly described and referenced to scripture passages. Excerpts from the Westminster Confession of Faith are included where applicable. Topics include: the nature of religion; general and specific revelation; the nature of Scripture; the nature, name, and attributes of God; the Trinity; the words of God – Divine Decree, predestination, creation, and providence; the nature of man – original design, state of sin, covenant of grace; the work of Christ; the work of redemption; the prophetic nature of Jesus’ ministry; the nature of the Church; sacraments; and eschatology. Key doctrines of the faith are briefly compared to other religions and major cults.

The student is expected to complete the daily lessons and unit tests, as well as keeping a personal journal of what has been learned.
