Every book and every curriculum program is written from a distinct worldview. These assumptions about how the world works affects what information is included and what is left out. There is another issue that affects what is presented: money. That's why what happens in the two largest textbook markets – California and Texas – is worth watching. Last month the Texas State Board of Education laid down guidelines for social studies curriculum that took exception to much of the liberal bias currently in textbooks.
