A Statistical Quandary

Despite increased funding and redoubled efforts to reform the system, our nation’s educational system has a troubling statistic facing it. Fourteen states graduate only one half to two-thirds of their high school students. An additional nine states graduate between 67 to 72.9 percent of their students. If the educational system were part of the business community, it’s doubtful that such an abysmal failure rate would be tolerated. The law of supply and demand would take care of programs that do not produce. No wonder the educational community is so against charter schools, vouchers, and tax breaks for educational alternatives such as homeschooling.
